"When you get hired for a new job, sometimes the employer will run a background check as part of your onboarding process. Workpop has partnered with Checkr, an NAPBS accredited background check company, to safely handle this sensitive process.
How Do I Get Started?
Before you can start on your background check, you must fill out your Employment Profile, confirming your date of birth.
NoteIf you enter a Date of Birth that says that you are NOT 18-years-old or older, you will not be asked to complete the background check.
After you have filled in your Employment Profile, verifying that you are over 18, you will see this task in your Task List:
NoteIf you are expecting a background check, you are over 18, and the task does not appear after you fill out your employment profile, please verify that you have entered your Date of Birth correctly.
To get started, just click the "Start" button. This will open a second window on Checkr.com.
NoteIf your browser blocks pop-up windows, this window may be blocked from opening. If you click the "Start" button and nothing happens, please check your browser settings to ensure that Workpop is authorized to open pop-up windows.
What Information Do I Need to Provide?
Checkr will use information from your Employment Profile to populate most of the information needed for your background check.
On the first page, you will be asked to re-enter your Social Security Number and enter a middle name. If you do not have a middle name, just click the checkbox that says "I confirm I have no middle name."
Next, you will be given a statement of your rights in the background check process under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Click the acknowledge checkbox after you have reviewed this information and then press continue.
On the next page, you will be presented with more information about your rights in the background check partner called a "Disclosure Regarding Background Investigation." Click the acknowledge checkbox after you have reviewed this information and then press continue.
For California residents, you will receive one other disclosure form and be given the option to receive a copy of your consumer report.
The last step is to give authorization for your employer to run the background check. You must type your name exactly as it was entered on the first page, and then check the reCAPTCHA box.
What Happens Now?
As explained in the video above, Checkr will report back to your employer with the results of your background check as soon as it is fully processed. You can track the progress of your report and see the results on the Checkr Applicant Portal. You will be provided a link to the applicant portal in an email that is sent to you from Checkr, and on the last page after you authorize the background check.
Once your check is cleared, your employer will contact you with next steps in the hiring process!
NoteYour start date may be affected if the results of the background check are delayed. Please check with your employer about your official start date.
What If My Background Check Results Are Wrong?
If you feel that the results of your background check are inaccurate, you can dispute them from within the Checkr Applicant Portal.
Click the "Report an Error" button to start the dispute process. This will put your hiring process on hold, so it's a good idea to check in with your Employer about your start date.
