Many companies choose to run background checks for new hires as part of the onboarding process. We've partnered with Checkr to make that process a seamless part of your onboarding flow in Workpop.
To get started with this feature, you will need to sign up for an account with Checkr.com. To connect your Workpop and Checkr accounts, contact us at [email protected]
Note:When signing up for your Checkr account, you will select the background check packages that you want to be able to purchase through Workpop.
Those packages are the only options that you will see when issuing checks in Workpop.
If you do not see a package that fits your needs, please contact [email protected]
Issuing a Background Check
Issuing a Background check can be done with just a few clicks, and there's no need to exit your normal onboarding flow in Workpop.
On the issuance page, you will see the option to issue the background check task just like you issue other documents and tasks to your new hires. Just click the drop-down menu to select the type of check you want to order, and then click to include that task with the other items on your list.
When you're done selecting all of your onboarding tasks, scroll to the bottom to select "Sign and Send."
What Happens Next?
The new hire will receive an email from us stating that they have tasks to complete for you. Once logged in to their account they will first be asked to complete their Employment Profile task.
Once this task is complete, the background check task will appear.
WarningThe background check task will NOT appear if the candidate indicates in their employment profile that they are under 18 years of age. When this happens, you will see an indicator on the Review and Finalize page that tells you that the background check was aborted.
If you know that they are 18 years or older, please ask them to verify that their Date of Birth is correct in their employment profile. Once the Date of Birth is corrected, the task will appear.
A new window will open when the employee clicks the "Start" button on Checkr.com. The candidate will fill out the background check authorization form and sign off on several notices regarding their rights in the background check process.
Being Notified of Results
Once the employee has completed the form, they will be placed in your "Review and Finalize" folder. While the background check is processing, you will see this "Pending" notification:
When the report is complete, you will see a notification at the top that tells you the status of the report.
The "Aborted" status indicates that the the candidate indicated that they are not 18 year of age or older.
The "Consider" status indicates that one or more parts of the background check returned adverse results.
The "Suspended" status indicates that Checkr is waiting for an applicant to provide additional documentation.
The "Disputed" status indicates that the candidate has disputed the results of the report.
The "Clear" status indicates that all parts of the background check were cleared of adverse results.
The "Error" status indicates that an error occurred when Checkr.com while processing the background check and their engineering team has been notified.
You can click the "View Full Report" button to log in to Checkr.com and take any necessary action on the background check.
When you've made a decision regarding the background check, you can either continue to finalize the employee or revoke the hire.
